Christopher Family Foundation Food and Family Program Grants - FY 13

The Family Resiliency Center (FRC) invites proposals for evidence-based programming to explore the complex interaction among food, families, and communities and its potential to foster resiliency. The Christopher Family Foundation Food and Family Program is based in the Family Resiliency Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The mission of the Food and Family Program is to build positive connections between food and family life in order to promote healthy eating, preserve family traditions, and build stronger relationships with an emphasis on children and youth.  This call is open to faculty in the Department of Human and Community Development and faculty affiliated with the Family Resiliency Center. Applications must establish a collaborative approach—single investigator applications will not be accepted.   In 2012 we expect to fund up to two proposals for up to two years at a maximum of $30,000 each year ($60,000 total).

Priority Research Areas FY 13

  • Evidence based programming that builds strong connections between early care providers and homes for healthy eating and active living.
  • Studies that build a strong evidence base linking the family environment, media, and children’s food consumption.
  • Studies that build a strong evidence base linking the family environment, the built environment, and children’s physical activity levels.
